Caritas – Caritas Gikongoro is the main organization, established in 1993 as a service of the Catholic Diocese of Gikongoro. Its mission is to help the needy by improving income, improving health, supporting social protection and promoting a culture of peace.
CDJP (Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission) – The Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission operates within Caritas Gikongoro to promote justice, human dignity and peaceful coexistence in society.
The Vision of Caritas Gikongoro is to have a society where human dignity and the integral development of all people are promoted according to the evangelical values.
To assist the needy (poor, vulnerable, oppressed) through increasing income, improvement of health, socio-charitable works as well as the promotion of a culture of peace.
Enhancing healthcare services, providing medical aid, and supporting nutritional programs to improve overall public health.
The CDJP Gikongoro is an instrument of the Diocese’s social pastoral work, and its aim is “the reign of truth, justice, freedom and charity, which alone can guarantee mankind a solid and genuine peace, a sine qua non for the integral and sustainable development of our communities, in the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ”.
