Strengthening Young People Through Saving and Internal Lending Communities

One of the key achievements of the project has been the support provided to 110 Saving and Internal Lending Communities established and facilitated by Caritas Gikongoro.

Saving and Internal Lending Communities provide members with an opportunity to work together, save regularly and develop greater financial responsibility. Through these community-based structures, young people can strengthen their capacity to plan, manage and invest their available resources.

The approach also encourages cooperation and solidarity among members while creating a platform through which young people can receive training and support relevant to their livelihoods.

Training 1,564 Young People

A major achievement of the project has been the training of 1,564 young people who are members of Saving and Internal Lending Communities.

The training focused on the initiation and management of income-generating activities, equipping young people with knowledge intended to help them identify economic opportunities, develop practical business ideas, manage resources responsibly and build sustainable livelihoods.

By combining savings, mutual support and practical skills development, the project is helping young people become more financially confident and better prepared to create opportunities for themselves, their families and their communities.
