CDJP Gikongoro is governed by its general assembly and its board, which have both the Bishop as the President of BoDs and Legal representative of CDJP Gikongoro. There is also a Justice and peace commission at Parish level which has a committee within it. At sub parish level, there is a justice and peace committee and two people representing the commission in ecclesiastic community based.

CDJP Gikongoro is a service of the Catholic Church in Rwanda, dedicated to promoting justice and peace. Conviviality session

On March 7 and 8, 2024, in the Cyanika and Gikongoro parishes, conviviality sessions were held between survivors of the genocide against the Tutsis and ex-prisoners. In each parish, the sessions were opened by a mass. The homily focused on the value of hamain life, forgiveness and the importance of the gift of forgiveness. After mass, there were constructive educational testimonies of forgiveness between couples in conflict, survivors and ex-prisoners. Speeches by local and church authorities encouraged them to maintain unity and good cohabitation, and then they shared a meal together.
